What is a Wedding Officiant or Marriage Celebrant?
A Marriage Officiant is a friend or professional who conducts and solemnizes a wedding ceremony according to the law.
If you have been asked by a friend to be their officiant and marry them, this usually means you will be performing a non-religious or civil ceremony.Â
But different rules and names apply for different countries in who can conduct a legal marriage ceremony. The marriage ceremony can be carried out by a minister of religion, civil celebrant, or government official.
What is a Wedding MC?
The Wedding Emcee, Wedding MC or Wedding Master of Ceremonies is essentially the host of the events following a wedding ceremony - known as the reception.
The wedding MC roles can be taken on by a professional or friend, and there are no legal requirements to be a wedding emcee. They collaborate with vendors and the venue, and guide the newlyweds and guests through all the events of the wedding celebrations including entrances, speeches, champagne tower, cake cut, first dance and bouquet toss.
